Guide 5/10
Making the match schedule
The match schedule is made on the Match schedule page. First the fixtures are created, then the service places the matches on venues and times. Nothing changes until you accept the proposal.
Pages: Match schedule · Match grid
Before you start
You need divisions, confirmed teams and the tournament venues. Check the playing time on the Basics page, because automatic scheduling stays within it. If a team cannot play at a certain time, record a restriction on the team page. Scheduling never breaks a hard restriction.
Five steps
The section Build the schedule shows where you are.
- Check the teams and venues.
- Create the fixtures. They tell who plays whom. The page offers to create fixtures for all divisions that have confirmed teams.
- Press Run the schedule automatically. The service makes a proposal and options.
- Pick a suitable option (Choose this) and press Accept and save.
- Number the matches under Match numbers and publish the match schedule on the Basics page.
Run settings
The settings are under Run settings. The most important ones:
- Tournament rhythm: Realistic rhythm spreads matches over the days and puts knockout matches on the last days. Compact capacity fill fills the venues as tightly as possible.
- Team match rhythm: for example Pair allowed (two matches in a row, then a break), Always a break in between or Doubles, which suits short 5v5 matches.
- Max matches per team per day: how many matches one team plays per day at most. The number applies to the realistic rhythm, and the sport default is only a starting value.
- Division finish: choose At the same time – joint prize ceremony if prizes are given to all divisions at the same time. The last matches of the divisions are then placed in the same time window.
- Changeover time between matches (min): a break after every match on the same venue.
When you change the settings, press Suggest match times and venues and the proposal is calculated again.
Comparing options
With the proposal you see Options: the same schedule arranged in different ways. For each one you see whether all matches fit, the longest playing day and longest wait for a team, how many times someone plays two matches in a row and when the divisions finish. The Recommended label is based on these figures, but the choice is yours.
In a very large tournament the options are not calculated, so that the proposal is ready quickly.
Checks before publishing
Below the saved match schedule you find Schedule rhythm quality and Conflict centre. Fix critical conflicts, such as one team in two matches at the same time, before you publish the schedule.
Manual changes
A single match can be moved in the Match grid view. Locked matches stay in place when the automatic run is repeated. If the whole day runs late, use Delay shift. Before saving it asks whether to email the teams.
